Pilot log line: An Iranian classical guitar teacher in a small Cali town, afraid of losing connection with his teens, decides on a daily ritual to bring his family closer. But when his foot fetish doesn’t distract him, his rebellious teens, his Iranian relatives and his quirky American in-laws, throw obstacles until a family secret casts everyone off balance. Series premise: An Iranian music teacher, his American wife and their free-thinking teenage sons try to find common ground in a small town in California amid clashing cultures and in-laws. “Man Out of Country” is an hour-long serialized dramedy series about an interracial married couple raising a family in a small California town. Iranian immigrant Amir and his American wife Kate teach classical guitar and piano to young students while juggling marriage, two teenage sons and quirky in-laws. The series will explore the complex needs of the characters as they navigate cultural differences/traditions, relationships and pressing issues, such as teenage drug experimentation, empty nest syndrome, career setbacks, family secrets and immigration challenges.
