CURRENCY

In a race against time to secure funds for his daughter's life-saving transplant, an idealistic cop reluctantly takes on a high-stakes assignment transporting millions in cash to a bank. However, the unexpected obstacle threatening to derail his mission is none other than his rogue partner, entangled in a dangerous plot to hijack the fortune.

CHRIS and JAMIE are introduced in a fast-paced edgy scene where they are both running on foot chasing a MUGGER. After a series of actions, they finally catch the Mugger as they put him in the police car Jamie mentions how he just doesn’t get paid enough for this. Chris agrees to buy Jamie lunch tomorrow at a particular restaurant that is a bit out of the way from their normal patrol area because Jamie says he loves it.

A pregnant BETH who is Chris’ wife gets introduced in the apartment and her water breaks. She notifies Chris via a call about her situation and Chris rushes to the hospital. Outside the police station, a BOOKIE confronts Jamie and demands payment for his lost bets. Jamie starts off saying he needs a little time which causes Bookie to pull a gun, hit Jamie with it, and tells him he’s got 48 hours to pay, or he will be dead. Chris arrives at the hospital and the Gynecologist breaks it to him that the baby NICOLE was born prematurely and appears to possibly have some liver issues and would require a liver transplant that will cost them about a few hundred grand. STEVE, Chris’ boss sergeant arrives and finds the couple distraught. He does his best to reassure them. The men help Beth get up and they all look at the baby in the incubator with great concern. The next day when Chris and Jamie are on patrol, a call comes in over the radio that there is a bank robbery in progress. Jamie observes it’s very close by and Chris agrees that they should go on the call even though it’s not in their territory. Chris and Jamie are first on the scene. Chris suggests they wait for backup, but Jamie says no and charges into the bank. Chris follows and enters to find that Jamie has a gun pointed at his head, the ROBBERS take, Jamie, the cash, and the FEMALE BANK EMPLOYEE toward the back. Chris follows them and shots are fired, the Robbers Female Bank Employee and make off with Jamie and some cash. Chris rushes to check on Female Bank Employee who seems to be okay. Chris rushes out the back door, but everyone is gone. Backup arrives and Chris is debriefed by Steve and the FBI AGENTS.

Desperate for funds, Chris seeks out a loan from the bank president, WOOD, who thanks him for stopping the robbery and saving the Bank Female Employee who is apparently his daughter. As Wood couldn't help Chris with a loan due to no collateral, he offers Chris a one-time off-duty assignment to escort his client HAROLD’s large sum of cash that will be arriving at a deserted beach area by boat, and it needs to be escorted to Wood’s bank. Harold admits it’s a little sketchy but swears that they are just moving the money this way to avoid exit taxes from the country they are bringing the money from. When Steve hears about this proposition, he insists on helping Chris in this mission. FBI agents approach Chris as they are suspicious of him. They confront Chris about Jamie having a ton of debt on his credit and owing a bookie. Chris appears to genuinely not know anything about it and gets angry telling them to stop wasting their time and find his partner.

On the mission day, Chris and Steve pull up to the deserted beach. After Chris returns the signal with his flashlight a boat which is a dinghy pulls close to the beach. Harold ASSOCIATES deliver the cash and departs. Chris and Steve decide to look in the bags and discover a mountain of cash. They drag and load the bags in their trunk. They start driving along the deserted roads when a police car appears before them with lights flashing. They exclaim their disbelief but pull over. The car is unmarked. Out of the car come two MASKED MEN, guns drawn. The men make Chris and Steve get out who complain they’re on the undercover job. The Masked Men ignore him and order him to load the cash into their car. Steve jumps one masked gunman. Chris attacks the other and in the struggle the mask comes off and it is revealed to be Jamie. Chris is so stunned he stops fighting and Jamie takes the opportunity to hit Chris in the head who crumbles to the ground. Jamie then subdues Steve who is outraged that it is Jamie. After Steve is subdued Jamie laments as to why did they have to fight and now there is nothing to do but kill them. The other gunman takes off his mask and reveals that he is RANDALL, Harold’s spoiled-brat son. Chris and Steve are both forced into the trunk and the car is set to drive off to a river to drown them.

Randall and Jamie drive discussing how Jamie will lay low at Randall’s apartment and in the morning, he will vanish to Canada while Randall will go back to his Dad’s house and act as if he has no idea what could’ve happened to Chris and Steve. In the water, inside the trunk, Steve is unconscious as Chris frantically tries to kick through to the back seat. He eventually succeeds as the car fills with water. Somehow Chris drags Steve through just as the car plunges underwater fully, Chris pops to the surface with Steve to get to the rocky shore. On the rocks, Steve isn’t breathing. Chris does CPR and finally, Steve spits out water and awakens. At the mansion, Randall enters to find Harold pacing who exclaims that the money was dropped off some time ago and there has been no word from Chris. Harold recalls that Chris has the sick baby and tells Randall to rush to the hospital and kidnap Beth because he doesn’t believe Chris could have picked up his wife and sick baby yet. Randall isn’t happy but agrees to do it. Back here Chris says that he will go get some help because Steve is still weak. Chris sneaks onto a nearby property and steals a motorcycle with the keys in the ignition.

Chris picks up Steve and they speed away on the motorcycle. They come up with a plan to find Randall’s apartment and go there to search for any information on where the money and/ or he and Jamie are. At the hospital, Randall lies to Beth saying that Chris has sent him there to get her because he needs help. In the hospital parking garage, Randall zaps Beth with a stun gun. Randall quickly zip-ties her and throws her in the trunk and then speeds away. Jamie is finalizing his packing for his morning departure. Outside the apartment, Steve and Chris see Jamie exit the apartment and Chris and Steve break in to search the apartment, deciding that trying to find the money is more important than capturing Jamie first. Inside the apartment, Chris and Steve find the bags with the money when Jamie bursts in and shoots Steve, who appears that he might have been fatally shot. Chris manages to escape the massive gunfire from Jamie who has a much more powerful automatic weapon with the money. Jamie calls Randall who tells Jamie they’ve got Beth and Jamie should meet him at once at a warehouse he has. Jamie agrees and rushes quickly, almost stepping on Steve on his way out who lies motionless on the floor.

In his car, Chris calls 911 anonymously saying there was a shooting, and he thinks someone may be shot at Randall’s apartment. Then, Chris gets a call from Jamie who informs him they’ve got Beth and if he doesn’t want her dead, he needs to show up at the warehouse in one hour with the money. Back in the apartment, Steve rises from the floor but seems to hardly be able to move. Chris arrives at the Warehouse, turns on his police body cam, and enters to find Jamie and Randall with Beth. Randall becomes impatient and tries to shoot Chris but Chris shoots and kills him. Jamie takes cover with Beth and screams to Chris that he just wants the money and if Chris gives up his gun and car keys Jamie will release Beth. Chris decides to do it and tosses his gun and keys on the floor and comes out from behind cover. Jamie comes out and berates Chris for putting him in this position but says he can’t have any loose ends. Chris tries to preemptively run for cover again, but Jamie shoots him in the leg. Chris falls to the floor, Jamie hovers over him and prepares to kill him when suddenly a bullet hits Jamie in the head killing him. Steve appears, deeply wounded, but commenting on how damn good the phone locator app is. Chris wants to take Steve to the hospital, but Steve insists that Chris should go to Harold’s and return the money while Steve can wait with Beth for paramedics and give a story explaining everything. Chris arrives at the mansion and shows Harold the body cam footage. Harold agrees to keep the deal and let Chris have his payday. It is clearly a few days later and Chris, Beth, and Steve sit outside the pediatric ICU unit where baby Nicole is recovering from her successful liver transplant.
