CURRENCY
An idealistic cop obtains a perilous job to escort millions in cash to fund his child's surgery but gets entangled in a conspiracy with his miscreant buddy cop that endangers his mission and family.
Following a foot chase and the apprehension of a mugger, Chris discovers that his wife BETH is entering labor. Jamie agrees to finalize the paperwork and mediate with STEVE, their supervisor. Upon arriving at the hospital, Chris finds Beth in stable condition, but their child is unwell and may require a liver transplant. Distraught, Chris learns that their insurance coverage will only address a portion of the expenses, and without raising one hundred and fifty thousand dollars within a few weeks, the baby's life is at risk. The following day, while Jamie and Chris are on patrol, they respond to a report of a bank robbery in progress. During the incident, Jamie is abducted by the fleeing robbers, despite Chris injuring one of them by shooting the individual in the arm.
Shortly after the robbery, Chris is invited to meet the BANK PRESIDENT, who expresses his gratitude for Chris' heroic actions during the incident. It turns out that the person Chris saved is the bank president's daughter. In the meeting, Chris is introduced to RANDALL, the bank president’s confident and influential future son-in-law. The bank president, moved by Chris' family struggles, offers to help by connecting him with a lucrative job opportunity that can quickly raise the funds needed for his daughter's surgery. While Chris is initially hesitant, he decides to accept the offer. However, Steve, not only Chris' boss but also a close family friend, insists on accompanying him. They meet HAROLD, a shady man in his fifties who is Randall’s father, for a job. Their task is to transport smuggled cash from the shore to the bank. Despite the risk, Chris agrees due to his desperation.
During the money drop-off, they are attacked and robbed by Randall and his accomplice Jamie, who it turns out was not kidnapped but in cahoots with Randall and the whole bank robbery. Steve gets badly beaten in the scuffle. After realizing their identities have been revealed to Chris and Steve, Randall and Jamie decide to kill them. They stuff them into the trunk of Chris’ car and sink it into a small lake. However, Chris manages to break free and save Steve from drowning. After performing CPR, Steve gets revived. With Steve incapacitated after a brutal attack, Chris sets out to seek help but encounters a fierce guard dog. In a desperate move, he commandeers a motorcycle to rush back to town with Steve. As they pursue Jamie and Randall to reclaim the stolen money, the stakes rise when Randall kidnaps Beth to provoke Chris.
In the climax, Chris enters a warehouse to save Beth, who is being held at gunpoint by Randall. Jamie is unhappy with the way Randall is handling the situation. Despite Chris refusing to reveal the location of the cash, Randall threatens to shoot Chris. Jamie steps in and kills Randall with his gun. Chris then reveals that the cash is in his car trunk. Jamie, under tremendous pressure to pay off his huge gambling debts, is the cause for his betrayal plans to kill the couple to cover his tracks. Beth intervenes by nudging Jamie just as he is squeezing the trigger. Chris seizes the opportunity and takes a fatal shot at Jamie, ultimately killing him. After watching the body cam footage of Chris, Harold accepts the fate of his ill-mannered late son and the return of his money. Chris rightfully receives the promised fee, allowing for the successful completion of his daughter's transplant surgery. The couple and their baby conclude their journey with immense gratitude and radiant smiles, acknowledging and appreciating all those who contributed to saving their daughter.
