Rules
PLEASE READ ALL RULES BEFORE SUBMITTING!
When submitting your project, please e-mail us with your project information and genre selection at Kristina@WorldEOnline.com. This must be received by e-mail to ensure your submission goes into the proper judging category. Please note that we may, in our own discretion, move your project into a different genre if we feel it is a better fit for that genre. This does not happen often, but we want to ensure your project is in the right category. However, we still need your selected genre e-mailed to us. Please select only ONE.
Script Genres: Action / Comedy / Comedy-Romantic / Drama / Drama-Comedy / Drama-Crime / Drama-Romantic / Family / Fantasy / Horror / Horror-Comedy / Sci-Fi / Suspense-Thriller / TV Pilot / Web episode / Western
There are NO restrictions as to when your script was completed or where it has been released. Anyone may enter the competition. All entries must receive an average score of 90 or above in the judging process to qualify for award placement.
Please note, if your project qualifies for an award, you or a direct representative from your project must be in attendance at the festival in order to receive any physical awards. Non-attending winners will be e-mailed award certificates after the event.
All submissions - whether accepted or not - come with ONE complimentary 4-day event pass to the festival. Any additional passes must be purchased in advance or at the door.
You may withdraw your submission at any time, but there are no refunds on submissions.
- By submitting this script, you acknowledge that it is your own original work and you are authorized to submit it to competition.
- The individual or corporation submitting this script shall indemnify and hold harmless The Indie Gathering from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits and publicity.
Awards
Projects must receive a score of 90 or above to qualify for award placement. Awards up to 4th place in each category, as well as honorable mentions. Awards to attending winners include trophies, plaques, and certificates. Grand champion belt to best overall script.

Screenwriter Mike Anka
An interview with screenwriter Mike Anka regarding the Indie Gathering Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: The title is THE SURFER'S STORY.
It's about two young people.
They were young and radiant when they met and fell in love. A sudden twist of fate changes him for life. He loves her but he sets her free. She will work in the shadows to keep him alive as he fights his demons to a bitter-sweet victory.
A: I was advised by a friend regading Indie Gathering as a decent Festival/Competition. He was right.
This was the first contest entry with this particular script. I have another feature which finished third and two more finalist feature scripts elsewhere.
A: I was very satisfied with the administration and the content itself. They met all their deadlines right on target and the award-ceremony was professional. I did receive my medal and awards as promised.
Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?A: I received indirect feedback and I found it helpful.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: Yes, this contest helped with marketing my script. Currently the script is posted on Inktip.com and the contest winning helped its exposure. I was contacted by producers and managers.
Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?A: My background is live theatre and novels. I directed plays in the past and published two novels [not self-published]. I'm relatively new to screenwriting but I love the visual arts for a long time.
Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?A: I don't live in Los Angeles and have no plans to move there unless a golden opportunity arises.
Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?A: Currently I'm sketching out the scenes for my next feature script, titled TRANSYLVANIA.
