Alfred Cool has written a pilot, 8 novels and multiple short stories about the B.C. coast, as only a local can, bringing to life through compelling and uniquely Canadian stories the raw and bold characters living where Canada’s mountains meet Earth’s greatest ocean. Since 2010, he has won awards in short story contests, has published stories in Toronto’s Danforth Review and New York’s The Otter e-zines, and has contributed to three Canadian anthologies. Before he attended Simon Fraser University to pursue an English degree, Al was a coast logger. Al enjoyed a lengthy career as a computer technologist and taught privately and as a college instructor. He is a member of the Vancouver chapter of the Canadian Authors Association and is an associate editor for the B.C. Federation of Writers publication Wordworks. Al has lived in many unique B.C. communities. He brings to his writing his background as a logger, a mountaineer, a dreamer, a boxer, a programmer and Systems Analyst, a manager, a rebel, a teacher, and always an environmentalist. He has worked at polished board room tables and has slept in ditches as a homeless adventurer, all on behalf of his desire to share the timeless experience of living on Canada's west coast.
