Amy Ludwig is a writer, director, and producer based in Los Angeles. Her stage adaptation of Sandra Cisneros’ novel “The House on Mango Street” has been produced at Steppenwolf Arts Exchange and more than 25 other theatres nationwide, earning the 2005 LA Weekly Award for Best Adaptation.

As a director in Chicago, Amy developed new plays by Sarah Ruhl, Elizabeth Wong, Hurt McDermott, Rebecca Gilman, and others with theaters including Victory Gardens, Theater Oobleck, and Chicago Dramatists Workshop.

As a director in Chicago, Amy developed new plays by Sarah Ruhl, Elizabeth Wong, Hurt McDermott, Rebecca Gilman, and others with theaters including Victory Gardens, Theater Oobleck, and Chicago Dramatists Workshop. She also produced and directed original works in unconventional venues with her site-specific company, Blue Star. In Los Angeles, Amy was the sole researcher for the first two seasons of Fox TV’s hit series BONES. Her award-winning short film HOLLYWOOD FOREVER played at festivals across the United States and Europe. She also directed “The Power of Connection,” a short documentary video about MOSTe, a Los Angeles mentoring and college-access nonprofit, that premiered at their Lanterns Luncheon in April 2018.

Amy holds a B.A. from Yale and and M.A. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University. She trained at Trinity Rep Conservatory and in the Warner Brothers Comedy Writing Workshop.
