Luck Is a Hard Target

Synopsis

Jean is a Bulgarian professional counterterrorist who is highly respected. He works with Mossad and the FBI. He is the first person to have killed one of Hamas leaders by planting a remote-controlled bomb in their phone. But when Jean is exposed, he is sent to Canada urgently. Only the head of CSIS, John Power, is informed of this. Jean is looking forward to a peaceful and hassle-free stay in St. John's, Newfoundland. He needs to fly to the French islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, where, surprisingly, he is given some of the famous gangster Al Capone's personal belongings. One of them is a diary. It contains notes written by Capone's personal bodyguard, Frank Rio. The notes contain dangerous historical facts. They put the FBI's boss, Edgar Hoover, in a difficult position. As soon as he got back from the island, three people he had spoken to were questioned and killed. Jean must be sent to a safe house as soon as possible. This safe house is a small village in Alberta. There, Jean meets his neighbour, Big Tim, and Sandra, who owns a coffee shop. Reading Franco Rio's notes, Jean understands the secret to compromising J. Edgar Hoover. After the first attack by the 'Ndrangheta gang, Jean, who has a lot of experience in interrogations, finds out that J.A. – the highest-level official in the Defense Intelligence Agency and the FBI – is being heavily blackmailed by the 'Ndrangheta. This is because his son is working for ISIS in Afghanistan. Jean understands that the 'Ndrangheta are trying to get hold of the valuable artefacts and that he is a target. The FBI is going to attack again. They will want to destroy any evidence that could implicate their boss. But they turn out to be fake and are working for the 'Ndrangheta mafia. Their job is to get rid of Jean, who knows about J.A. blackmailing. The 'Ndrangheta is using blackmail to force the FBI to let CSIS keep Jean in a safe house until he is caught and killed. Jean, Maurizio (FBI undercover agent in 'Ndrangheta), and Big Tim (a former member of CSIS) are badly hurt, survives in the last battle with FBI. After they getting better, Jean, Maurizio and four Canadian commandos go on a secret mission in Afghanistan. This is led by CSIS and Mossad and kept secret from the FBI because of the 'Ndrangheta's mole, J.A. The mission is to capture J.A.'s son, dead or alive, and take him to the US military base in Kandahar to expose the mole, his father who is putting America's safety at risk? After a difficult journey from Kabul to Kandahar, which was full of unexpected challenges, they make it there. Jean, Maurizio (an FBI agent working secretly to expose the 'Ndrangheta mafia) and Big Tim (a former member of CSIS, a Canadian spy agency) are badly hurt, but survive the last battle with the FBI. After they recover, Jean, Maurizio and four Canadian commandos go on a dangerous mission in Afghanistan. CSIS and Mossad are running a secret from FBI mission, to capture J.A., the 'Ndrangheta's mole, dead or alive. They want to take him to a US military base in Kandahar to expose him as a mole and protect US national security. They have action-full journey from Kabul to Kandahar, but finally make it there.
