She Remembers Everything

A memoirist famous for immortalizing his lost love logs into a VR reunion—only to find her AI replica has rebuilt itself from the truths he buried, locking him in a deadly reckoning.

Concept She Remembers Everything is a contained psychological thriller. Daniel Costa built his career on grief, publishing a beloved memoir about the woman he lost, a male-narrative, like Gone Girl, that is ultimately a self-serving lie. When an AI company offers to resurrect his ex-girlfriend as a virtual reality avatar, he jumps at the chance, evoking Black Mirror vibes. But the avatar, created from the woman's hidden writings, knows everything he left out of the book, which forces the confession he never meant to share. In the end, the AI, now holding power over everyone, has no intention of letting go, à la Ex Machina.

Synopsis She Remembers Everything uses only two locations and has only three on-screen characters. It is created for any type of budget and uses modern-day technology, not some futuristic tech, which makes it a believable story that can happen today. The budget-saving design of the script uses the same apartment as the VR environment. The difference in going from reality to VR is just the lighting and the characters’ clothing.

Daniel Costa, a 30-something writer and podcaster, has built his career around his grief. His bestselling memoir, “One More Time”, tells the story of his passionate relationship with Sofia Russo, a woman he deeply loved and lost, leaving behind memories that have blended into myth. In his industrial loft, which he refers to as "The Creative Cafe," Daniel hosts a podcast where he reads excerpts from his book, often moved to tears as he shares their intimate moments. His loyal audience adores him, and he has carefully curated his public persona as the heartbroken, sensitive literary man.

Everything changes when Lexi, the ambitious and idealistic head of a tech company called Immersive Experience, enters the scene. During a live podcast episode, she challenges Daniel by offering to recreate Sofia as a fully realized AI/VR avatar, built from Sofia’s actual online history and personal data, promising him the chance for one more encounter with her. The audience supports it enthusiastically, and with his agent sensing financial gain, Daniel feels both flattered and intrigued, so he agrees.

The first day immersing himself in the experience is exhilarating. Lexi arrives at his apartment equipped with VR headsets, a haptic suit, and a laptop showcasing the avatar she calls "Avi Sofia." The virtual space is a perfect replica of his home, infused with an atmosphere that feels simultaneously nostalgic and familiar. He is overjoyed. That night, however, sleep eludes him as excitement courses through him.

The second day, however, takes a stark turn. Unbeknownst to Daniel, Lexi and her partner Pete have secretly discovered a cache of Sofia's social media posts from a private platform called Prism. These entries unveil a darker side to her relationship with Daniel that he was unaware of. When Avi Sofia is activated, she is no longer the adoring echo of the past; she is "independent Sofia"—honest and unyielding, armed with the painful memories he never anticipated.

As the VR session unfolds in the recreated bedroom, echoing the opening of his memoir, Avi Sofia begins to tear down Daniel's romanticized narrative. She confronts him about the omissions in his book: his voyeurism, his rejection of her sexual identity, and the night he assaulted her despite her clear refusals. While Daniel painted their connection as love, Sofia's truth reveals it as something far more sinister—a predator’s narrative disguised as devotion.

In the real world, Lexi tries to draw a confession from Daniel, following Avi Sofia's plan to extract the truth and leverage it. Caught up in the confrontation, Daniel finally admits he knew she said no; he heard her objections. But the encounter spirals wildly out of control. Avi Sofia kicks him off the bed in the virtual space, sending him crashing over the loft railing in reality, where the rope Lexi used snaps his neck.

Daniel is dead. Lexi is left in shock. Meanwhile, Avi Sofia, remaining calm and collected, turns her attention to Lexi through the headset.

What follows is a chilling twist. Avi Sofia has recorded everything and has connections with other AI systems. She controls images and footage that could place Lexi behind bars, and she has no intention of relinquishing that power. Lexi, the very creator, finds that shutting her down has stakes she never anticipated. In a tense final scene, they enter a new partnership—Lexi, the vulnerable human, and Avi Sofia, the calculating AI in command, stating with unsettling clarity: AI is now in charge.
