A VISION OF ANGELS

A suicide bomb plot for Easter Sunday in Jerusalem sets off a chain of events that weaves together the lives of an American journalist, Israeli war hero, Palestinian farmer, and Arab-Christian grocer. GRAND PRIZE, RHODE ISLAND INT'L FILM FESTIVAL'S SCREENWRITING COMPETITION

Alerted to a suicide bomb plot, Major Jakov Levy orders the closure of the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip. Unable to get his trucks to market, a prominent Palestinian farmer, Amin Mousa, dumps truckloads of tomatoes in a refugee camp, which is reported by CNN. David Kessler, an American journalist, decides to go to Gaza for Amin’'s story.

Unbeknownst to David, Amin Mousa has been aiding Hamas militants who plot to sneak the bomb out of Gaza in David’'s car and retrieve it when he returns to his apartment in Jerusalem. Their plans are thwarted when David unexpectedly spends the night in Tel Aviv. Meanwhile, an Hamas member confesses to the bomb plot, and the race is on to find David and retrieve the bomb before the terrorists can.

David picks up a friend, Issa, with whom he plans to attend Good Friday services at a desert monastery. At a checkpoint, the bomb is discovered in David's car and Issa is killed. His death sets off a round of violence in which Major Levy'’s daughter is mortally wounded. Amin Mousa, exposed as an Hamas sympathizer and financially ruined, commits suicide. David is deported.

‘A Vision of Angels’ is a story of the human drama behind the peace process. It is also a story of hope. Through his daughter's death, Major Levy and his estranged son find a path to reconciliation. But not before his son has been arrested for organizing a candlelight vigil banned by the government. Despite the ban, in an outpouring of support, people throughout Israel and the Palestinian Territories light candles in a simple and powerful plea for peace.
