Synopsis

12 year old engaging Peter, coached by his dad Ivan Trotsky, is a promising world beater runner. Professional coach Glen cautions against pushing Peter too hard but is ignored. Ivan is a drunken bully to his wife, Nora. Ivan is threatened with a jail term by the magistrate. Ivan owes money to a brutal lender, Fixer, who threatens Peter. Gavin, 17, harasses Peter in the pool. Ferocious Jimmy sees him off. They swim daily. Jimmy gives Peter a silver model runner. Nora wins £100,000 on the lottery. Peter is heard telling Jimmy about the lottery money. Gavin and his mate Fixer kidnap Peter and hide him in a deserted house. They phone Nora, claiming the lottery money for his return. P.C. Perkins and Jimmy search the streets for clues. None. Gavin and Fixer arrange with Nora for the money to be lifted in a drone. Gavin collects the money via a drone in the park. They kidnap Jimmy too. Gavin warns off Fixer from hurting the boys. Peter loses it in the cellar. They wrestle. Jimmy calms him. The money from Jimmy’s mum is collected by Gavin on an unmarked motor-bike. The boys attack Gavin, and Peter escapes to the street and leads Fixer and Gavin quite a chase before being recaptured. Glen finds Peter’s runner outside the old house. Jimmy’s mum recognizes it. Fixer intends to sell Jimmy, and hides him in the old house. Glen leads the police to the old house, where he found the runner. The police arrive at the old house seconds after Gavin and Fixer have whisked the boys away. Gavin and Fixer hide in Ivan’s flat. Ivan has organized the kidnapping. Fixer arrives outside Ivan’s flat, and grabs the boys as they escape from Gavin’s car boot. Fixer sells the boys to a couple but Peter kicks him and jumps into the van, scattering the couple and drives away with Jimmy. The police catch Fixer. P.C. Jenkins finds the money in the flat aided by Peter’s tiny PC camera. Ivan is out on bail. Peter attacks Gavin, and calls the police. Peter is back running, and entered for the big race. He wins to everyone’s delight. Glen has trained a winner, who should go far. Shades of Billy Elliot and Breakbroke Mountain.
