Wendigo

After a series of brutal killings in Algonquin Provincial Park linked to a missing hiker transformed into a mythical Wendigo, an elite military team must join forces with local rangers and a Native American tracker to stop the ancient creature's reign of terror before more innocent lives are lost.

The pilot opens in 1847 at a Plains Cree winter camp in Wisconsin, where a Wendigo - a nine-foot tall skeletal creature with translucent skin and burning eyes - emerges from a tepee with a dead child. Warriors pursue it but are killed, establishing the ancient threat of this supernatural being born from cannibalism.

The story then jumps to three years before the present day, following two teenage hikers - David Marsh and Tommy Chen - who document their wilderness expedition on camera. Through found footage, we see their tragic descent as they become lost and desperate. After Tommy dies in a ravine, a starving Marsh resorts to cannibalism, triggering his transformation into a Wendigo.

In the present day, the narrative centers on a series of deaths in Algonquin Provincial Park. Fire watch tower operator Marshal Davies spots suspicious activity, leading Park Rangers Sarah Collins and Tate to investigate. They encounter a group of teenagers at an illegal campsite, but their routine check turns deadly when the Wendigo attacks, killing Mike and forcing the rangers to protect the surviving teens. During this encounter, Tate is killed, establishing personal stakes for Collins.

The story then introduces Captain James Reeves, who leads a specialized military team tasked with capturing or killing supernatural threats. His team includes: - Sergeant Mike Torres with his military dogs Ranger and Scout - Mara Sanchez (tech specialist) - Dmitri Volkov (heavy weapons) - James Wright (medic) - Alex Murphy (demolitions/flame specialist)

They're joined by Joseph, a Native American tracker who understands the Wendigo's nature through his ancestral knowledge. The team attempts their first confrontation with the creature but suffers losses when Torres becomes infected through the Wendigo's gaze. Following tribal tradition, Torres chooses ritual suicide over transformation, demonstrating the serious stakes and emotional cost of their mission.

The situation escalates when news of the creature leaks to the public, prompting local hunters led by Jack Morrison (whose daughter was killed by the Wendigo) to mount their own hunting party. This results in a chaotic night encounter where the Wendigo demonstrates its ability to mimic voices and strategically hunt its prey. Several hunters die before Reeves' team can evacuate the survivors.

The pilot culminates in a carefully planned final assault. The team sets up an elaborate trap in a ravine, using bear traps, fuel lines, and strategic positioning. They provoke the Wendigo by burning its lair, then lead it into their kill zone. After an intense battle where several team members are injured, Collins manages to strike the killing blow with a silver knife to the creature's heart. The episode ends with a ritual burning of the Wendigo's body, breaking its curse and allowing the land to begin healing.
