Three Winters

Confined by his panic disorder, a columnist unknowingly fathers three daughters with three estranged sisters in the same year, which comes to a head at their fourth birthday party.

Concept: Three Winters uses a unique, one-of-a-kind concept: Morris Tate, an anxious, housebound writer, unknowingly fathers three children with three sisters in the same year. Four years later, they all show up at his daughter’s birthday party, each named Winter. A contained script that uses one suburban house unfolds in sharp, absurdist layers as Morris faces his fears and his new family. With the biting humor of The Kids Are All Right, the chaos of Little Miss Sunshine, and the awkward humanity of Fleabag, this film embraces messy, modern love.

Synopsis: Morris Tate, a 30-something Black-American man struggling with severe agoraphobia and panic attacks after a traumatic, viral college basketball incident. Living as a recluse in his pristine 1970s-style home, Morris works remotely as a copywriter and online columnist.

The story unfolds across three distinct seasons, each marked by the arrival of one of the Brady sisters - Spring, Summer, and Autumn - three estranged siblings who each profoundly impact Morris's life and journey toward healing. One actor can play all three Brady sisters, which would be a choice role for any actress.

Spring The first Brady sister arrives as Morris’s tenant, radiating free-spirited hippie-style warmth as she pursues women’s studies at UC Davis, her eyes set on a life in an off-the-grid lesbian commune in Oregon. Over four months filled with awkward and hilarious situations, Spring becomes special in his life and helps him make positive steps in dealing with his anxiety. Spring asks Morris to donate sperm for what she describes as the "Lesbian Liberation Movement," and he agrees, convinced he’s helping anonymously. Morris does not realize that Spring uses his sperm for her own pregnancy. Spring moves on to live off the grid.

Summer Spring's younger sister, Summer, unexpectedly arrives searching for Spring. A self-proclaimed "manizer," Summer contrasts with her sister, glamorous, assertive, and manipulative. During one night before heading to France to live with a wealthy older man, she seduces Morris. The uproarious encounter impregnates Summer without Morris knowing, as she leaves the country the next day.

Autumn The eldest Brady sister, Autumn, appears as Morris is cautiously piecing together his life. Autumn radiates quiet strength and empathy. She seeks her sisters about their late father’s will, but immediately connects with Morris, who is disarmed by her sincerity. They fall in love and Autumn becomes pregnant, and they have a baby girl. They named her Winter as that was the wish of Autumn’s late mother. Autumn and Winter are the best therapy for Morris overcoming his agoraphobia.

Then the fourth season, four years later, when it all comes to an uproarious head.

Winter The story surges to a hilariously chaotic yet rawly vulnerable climax at Winter’s fourth birthday. The other two Brady sisters show up unexpectedly, each with her own daughter—both named Winter—delivering a tidal wave of confusion, joy, and disbelief, causing a massive panic attack. But with Autumn’s help and Winter's love, they embrace the messy, unpredictable new world.

Who is Anthony Truscello? I'm fortunate to share life with my wife of 40 years, our three married children, and four wonderful grandchildren. My oldest son is a professor of creative writing, and I learned more from him than he ever did from me. He taught me the craft of storytelling and how to create a world within a world.

After a fulfilling career in teaching, counseling, and football coaching, I now devote my time to screenwriting. The discipline and patience I honed as an educator serve me well in this new creative chapter.
