Fight For Oil

A beautiful young anti-war activist and a Death Valley auto mechanic learn about love and loyalty during a future Gulf War.

Fight For Oil, is a Dramatic Comedy in two short acts with some music.

Set at a desert service station somewhere the South West United States, sometime in the future. War in the Persian Gulf continues. There has been a massive draft and despite an increase in chemical injuries and poisoning, enlistments are up! The lead characters are two Auto Mechanics, a Young Woman Anti-War Activist and an Infantry Sergeant gone Mutant, with several colorful supporting roles. Although the story involves the Gulf War in fantasy, it does not wallow in politics, but rather concentrates with humor on the people and their relationships with each other during the dramatic affects of War.

PRINCIPLE CAST DANNY: An auto mechanic in his early to mid- twenties. A rural hometown boy determined to make something of himself, even at the expense of his own happiness. He admires Neil's cocky attitude, but does not share it.

LIBERTY: A young woman in her twenties. Attractive and equally sophisticated. She travels cross country organizing anti-war groups wherever she can.

NEIL: A mechanic in his late twenties. Raised in the big city, he is street smart and quick witted. Divorced with no children, he has never stayed in one place long enough to call home. His survival is top priority.

POP: Age unknown. Hard of hearing and poor in sight. He manages to keep a spunky disposition. That is when he can stay awake .

LARAMIE: A mutant soldier. 40's, dedicated to his profession and loyal to the military. Seems oblivious to the seriousness of the chemical reactions which have mutated himself and many others.

A Bronx native, Ray DeFeis began acting on the Off-Off Broadway stage in New York City after receiving Honors in Dramatics from Evander Childs H.S. in 1972. Serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve, Ray continued performing in various regional theaters until eventually settling back home in N.Y.C.

Ray approaches all his roles with commitment and dedication, bringing a fresh new life to any character he portrays.
