Inhumane Traffic
After the brutal murder of a missionary, an old-fashioned church woman from the country and an urban undercover police detective team up against ruthless gangsters who run a major slave trafficking network.
Pete questions her about the shooting which puzzles her since she’s certain he was involved in it. Back at her missionary home, she finds Stephen’s lifeless and bloody body. Deborah who didn’t want to be involved is now moved to identify Casper as Kim’s killer. The police pursue Casper and the sex trafficking operation, which has relocated. Casper tails Deborah in a car chase near the docks and viciously rams her car into the Delaware River. When a battered Deborah awakens in the hospital with a foggy recollection of her ordeal, her pastor orders her back to upstate Pennsylvania and closes the missionary house. She wants to stay in town and after Pete reveals that he’s an undercover cop who set some of the girls free, she stays with him.
Sharing their tragic past and piecing together interconnected shreds of evidence, they believe that the man who killed Casper is sadistic killer, Sabre, who hacked Deborah’s mother and Pete’s parents to death years earlier. Sabre, who eliminated Casper to become the head sex trafficker, sets a trap for Deborah and Pete. Sabre captures two of the girls that Pete freed and forces one of them to lure Pete to the hotel room where he had hidden them. Pete and Deborah are ambushed by Casper and his henchman with the girls locked in the bathroom. During the melee, Pete’s neck is slashed. He crumbles in a bloody heap on the floor.
Deborah’s staid appearance belies her combat skills. During the scuffle she knocks the henchmen into the bathroom door, dislodging his gun and opening the door for the girls, but Sabre stabs her deep in the back. Before he can finish her off, one of the girls slings the gun to a barely conscious Pete, who fires a shot into Sabre’s head. With her last bit of strength , Deborah calls 911 for help, using police jargon. She, too, was an undercover detective.
I don’t believe films by creatives of color should be limited to stories featuring gangs, drugs, criminals or broad comedy. I’ve written and produced fifteen shorts and my feature screenplays have won or placed high in international competitions.
