BlueCat Announces Contest Winner

The BlueCat Screenplay Competition has announced Timo E. Peltonen's The Piano Tuner as the winner of their 2008 contest:

The Piano Tuner by Timo E. Peltonen

In 1943 Germany, where trust has collapsed and fear burns brightly, a piano tuner investigates the mystery of a war widow's son disappearing from his room.

About the Writer: Timo E. Peltonen was born in Helsinki, Finland. He learnt the English language at the age of five in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where his father worked for the International Red Cross. The local drive-in theater played films like Shane and Disney's Peter Pan.

Timo went through most of his schooling in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland, except for the study year 1985 - 1986 which he spent in Little Rock, Arkansas, attending the Catholic High School for Boys.

Always a movie buff, Timo's first true contact with dramatic writing came during high school, when he co-wrote the plot and wrote the lyrics for a full-length teenage musical, which was choreographed and composed by professionals from Helsinki.

Timo studied at The University of Tampere, majoring in Theatre and Drama Research. In the year 1994 - 1995 he was an exchange student at the Montana State University Film School, where he wrote and directed three 12-minute films.

Since 2001 Timo has earned his living as a freelance critic for Helsingin Sanomat, the largest newspaper in Finland, writing reviews on film, documentaries and other TV programs. He currently lives in Hyvinkää with his wife and two small daughters.

P.S. Timo asks people not to mix him up with Timo Peltonen, a Finnish cinematographer.
