A thought-provoking view of women and cursing is entertained at this art opening in New York. Two twenty-something artistes and a fifty-something writer explore various facets of whether it is 'ladylike' to curse - or not - in public - a philosophical comedy - of sorts. Are we too brash as a society? Crass? Maybe - maybe not. You decide! Is America 'off the hook'? Are we gone? Does etiquette exist anymore? Totally captivated, a local, slightly intoxicated, woman writer, GRACE, who is also the NARRATOR, listens with an astute ear to the animated and passionate conversation as she also stands outside for a smoke.
Grace is utterly fascinated by the young woman's flamboyance and her total disregard for the surroundings. In today's culture - where everyone is easily offended - this young woman didn't really give a rip. To Grace, in the current climate of political correctness and insanity, it was refreshing to observe.
The writer/narrator, Grace, thinks OUT LOUD, about what is going on in her own head as she listens to the young woman. Lisa's friend, is named MARY.
Several PASSERSBY, do a 180 degree turn to gawk at the young woman's total freedom of expression as she unabashedly sounds off in a public setting. Language has been edited for this slice of life scenario in Americano today. Are we too brash? Crass? Crude? You decide. A mini-teleplay.
