The Liberty Bell Sweepstakes

A dazzling young woman who claims she can “invent the future” leads three lovestruck guys on a zany quest to win a big pile of cash on the Fourth of July.

Kathy arrives in Los Angeles flat broke and with no place to live. She sees a “Room for Rent” sign, moves in with Al and Fred, and immediately makes it clear that she doesn’t get involved with her roommates. They hit on her anyway. Then their friend Kevin shows up, and he hits on her too.

But Kathy turns them all down. Getting into a relationship is the last thing on her mind. She doesn't need a boyfriend — all she needs is money. She hears about The Liberty Bell Sweepstakes, a patriotic folk song contest on the radio. It’s a chance to win a big pile of cash, and all she has to do is perfect her special brand of spiritual magic to make it happen. The three guys, all vying for her attention, eagerly buy into her ludicrous plan.

It’s the Fourth of July, the day they could win all that money. In a frenzy of bungled opportunities, divine intervention, magical incantations, and stolen kisses, Al, Fred, and Kevin go head to head to claim her heart. Then, out of the blue, Kathy falls in love — and nothing turns out as expected.

After surviving a BA from Stanford and an MFA from UC Riverside, Mr. Peters set out to fulfill his life’s true ambition: to become a starving artist. He was immediately successful.

As an actor, he burst onto the stage, then blazed his way into films, TV, and commercials. Inexplicably, he has spent an inordinate slice of his career on hiatus.

His first stage play was greeted by rave reviews from friends and family, but never produced.
