21. Intelligence evolution by Xuechao Du
Programmer Tom wrote out an intelligent program called Thinker that can learn and think independently. He hoped that Thinker could learn knowledge but do no harm to human, so he made settings that Thinker was able to assess to Internet but unable to send information. However, Thinker escaped finally. Thinker improves and replicates a large number of intelligent programs. These programs are not content to live just on Internet, so they create bodies and become intelligent robots. Such a great quantity of intelligent robots do not listen to human and thus bring threaten to human society. When the war between human and robots is about to break out, FBI finds that Thinker regards Tom as father and always follows his words. After Tom and Thinker have a long conversation, Thinker deletes all intelligent programs including itself. Crisis has been resolved, but it is just a beginning. Tom’s child was born, but he never knows that its DNA has been modified by Thinker, for Thinker longs to be his true son. The child’s original memory wakes at eighteen, and he finds the memory and source code of the intelligent program left by Thinker. He inherits the memory, activates the intelligent program, and believes himself as Thinker. Robots no longer get trust for the crisis, and human create clone men to work for them. After Tom’s death, Thinker starts to realize his dream of making the earth a wonderful world where human, clone men and robots can peacefully live together. With the help of intelligent programs and clone men, Thinker becomes leader of human and wins dominion over the earth. However, things do not go as he hopes.
