Waiting for the Apocalyse

When a respected judge’s lover is kidnapped, he’s forced into a race against time that dismantles his faith in justice — and exposes how far a man will go when the system that empowered him turns against him.

Henry Stein is a witty, charming, and self-assured judge who has built his life on two pillars: family loyalty and a relentless pursuit of financial security. He believes he has mastered the art of balance — the respectable public figure with cleverly guarded private ambitions. But when he meets Elizabeth, a struggling screenwriter with raw talent and an unfiltered heart, Henry finds himself disarmed in ways he never expected. Her creativity and vulnerability crack open parts of him he long buried, sparking an unexpected and intoxicating romance.

Their growing connection is violently disrupted when Elizabeth is suddenly kidnapped. As Henry scrambles to find her, his polished exterior fractures, revealing deeper fears, moral blind spots, and an obsessive determination that drives him into increasingly questionable choices. The investigation takes a darker turn when Henry discovers the kidnapper’s identity: the father of a man Henry once sentenced — a man who later died in prison. Fueled by grief and rage, the kidnapper seeks revenge by forcing Henry to feel the same helplessness and loss that consumed him.

With time running out and his carefully curated world collapsing, Henry is thrust into a desperate search that pushes him far outside the bounds of law, reason, and his own ethical code. Torn between guilt and love, he must confront the unintended consequences of his judgments and decide how much of himself — and his reputation — he is willing to sacrifice. In the end, Henry faces a truth he’s spent years avoiding: sometimes the real verdict isn’t delivered in a courtroom, but in the choices a man makes when everything he values is on the line.

Author Bio:
Naomi Lisner is an actor, writer, and occasional director who believes stories should make you feel something — preferably laughter, catharsis, and maybe a tiny existential crisis (the fun kind). After years working in front of the camera, she eventually picked up the pen, the director’s chair, and a paintbrush, proving she has trouble sitting still for more than five minutes.

An award-winning storyteller, Naomi creates work with heart, humour, and characters who feel real enough to text you at 2 a.
