When five estranged friends trespass into the Scottish Highlands searching for a forgotten wartime gold cache, they stumble into the Apex Society’s no-holds-barred hunt—where wealthy thrill-seekers pursue both human bait and an ancient Entity, until the creature turns everyone in the forest into prey.
The land belongs to the Apex Society, a secretive organisation catering to ultra-wealthy clients who pay for the privilege of hunting human beings without consequence. When the five friends inadvertently enter their hunting ground, they become the Society’s latest prey. But something else is stalking the estate. An ancient predator has emerged from beneath the Highlands, and the hunters quickly discover they are no longer at the top of the food chain.
As the hunt descends into chaos and more of the creatures surface, the friends are caught between the heavily armed Society and a species built to kill. Old resentments, betrayals and years of unresolved history collide with the brutal reality that not all of them are getting out alive.
What began as a hunt for £700 million becomes a fight to survive long enough to expose what the Apex Society has been hiding — while the creatures turn its carefully controlled playground into a killing ground.
