Objective
CineStory is a national non-profit dedicated to nurturing emerging screenwriters through mentorship programs. Winners of our competition have gone on to pen films such as IRON MAN, CAKE, THE CHILDREN OF MEN, BALLAST, KING OF CALIFORNIA and 11:14.
One of the main goals of the CineStory Feature Retreat is to select up-and-coming screenwriters for our four-day intensive program held in the Fall.
THE CINESTORY FEATURE RETREAT
CineStory's Retreat is dedicated to the advancement of great new voices in screenwriting. Retreat attendees are chosen from the top writers of our annual competition, the CineStory Screenwriting Awards. For four days, writers enjoy direct access to working Hollywood professionals.

GRAND PRIZE: THE CINESTORY FELLOWSHIP
Valued at over $17,000 this prize includes a $10,000 cash award, free meals, board and tuition at the exclusive CineStory Writers Retreat as well as a 12-month mentorship program with two Hollywood professionals hand picked for the winner. The CineStory Fellowship gives writers direct access to Hollywood professionals and has a long track record of success. Prior fellows have optioned material, gained representation and secured writing assignments with the guidance of their mentors. Also included: one-year Script Pipeline Writers Database membership; three-year subscription to Creative Screenwriting; iScript screenplay audio recording; and one-year Scripped PRO subscription.
SECOND PLACE:

CineStory Names TV Contest Quarterfinalists
CineStory has announced their Original Drama, Comedy, and Sci-Fi/Fantasy division quarterfinalists for the 2023 TV Retreat & Fellowship Contest. Quarterfinalists advance to the semifinalist round, after which there will be another round of judging to determine finalists and division winners. Division winners advance to another judging round to determine the 2023 TV Fellow. [Updated: 01/14/2023]
CineStory Names Feature Contest Semifinalists
CineStory has announced the 28 semifinalists who will be invited to attend this year's CineStory Retreat. Attendees receive three 90-minute one-on-one sessions with CineStory mentors. Attendees also participate in informal rooms run by mentors that cover topics ranging from pitching like a pro to the state of filmmaking in the digital age. [Updated: 08/25/2022]
CineStory Names Fellowship Winners
CineStory has named Laila Ujayli and Zaina Ujayli as their 2021 joint Feature Fellowship winners. Their Fellowship-winning script, FOUR FLOORS IN RAQQA, based on a true story, is about a headstrong woman who braves bombs and execution in ISIS-occupied Raqqa to protect her neighborhood and the home she built with her siblings. CineStory Names Contest Finalists
Finalists have been announces for the 2021 CineStory Retreat and Fellowship. Each of the finalists will be considered for this year’s Fellowship, which is valued at $20,000 and includes, among other prizes, $10,000 and a year long mentorship with two entertainment industry professionals. Interview with Author/Screenwriter Michael Weinreb
Michael Weinreb studied journalism at Penn State, and creative writing at Boston University, and published a book of short stories and several books of non-fiction before trying his hand at screenwriting with The Big D, a sports drama based loosely on the SMU football scandal of the 1980s.
As the 2009 grand prize winner of CineStory's annual screenwriting competition, Louis Rosenberg found himself seated at the organization's annual retreat with all of the volunteer industry professionals and mentors at once. In one large, private session, Rosenberg received numerous tips and advice about his writing and screenwriting career.
Executive Director of CineStory, Cléa Frost is a native of Australia. She attended one of its leading film schools housed at the Victorian College of the Arts. Since graduating, she has worked as a director's assistant, writer's assistant, creative executive, story analyst and script consultant, as well as a writer-for-hire for on both feature film and new media projects.
When Daniel Barnz heard his name announced as the grand-prize winner of CineStory's annual screenwriting awards for his screenplay Phoebe in Wonderland in 1996, he was thrilled.
